报告摘要:
The purpose of the calculus of variations is to find optimal solutions to engineering problems whose optimum may be a certain quantity, shape, or function. The Direct method in the calculus of variations uses some relatively simple techniques from non-linear analysis to solve the related variational problem. In this lecture first we shall review a general formulation of the fractional variational problems and then we discuss about the necessary tools from non-linear analysis for this kind of problems. In contrast to the classical variational problems, we face two mathematical difficulties in applying the direct method in the fractional variational problems: firstly the awkward nature of fractional operators, and secondly the loss of some necessary tools from nonlinear analysis such as the compactness and embedding results. To overcome these difficulties, a comprehensive analysis should be done with respect to related fractional operators.

报告摘要:
We investigate the problem of finding an admissible function giving a minimum value to an integral functional that depends on an unknown function (or functions) of one or several variables and its generalized fractional derivatives and/or generalized fractional integrals. The appropriate Euler–Lagrange equations and natural boundary conditions are obtained.
