Resume
Prof. Gethin Roberts received the B.Eng. in Mining Engineering and Ph.D. degree in Engineering Surveying and Geodesy from the University of Nottingham, UK, in 1993 and 1997 respectively. Since 1993, he has been an academic at the University of Nottingham. In 2010-2013, he acted as Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering in UNNC. He was awarded the prestigious Zhejiang 1,000 Talents award in 2013. He is currently a Professor of Geospatial Engineering at the University Of Nottingham. He is also the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) Chairman of Commission 6, Engineering Surveys, as well as the UK representative for commission 6 through the support of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors.He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors. His research covers engineering surveying, deformation monitoring, research into GPS and GNSS, detection and positioning of buried pipes and cables, and using GNSS integrated with other sensors and systems to position such utilities in built up areas etc. He has written and co-written over 200 papers.
